Speaker rolling self notice case; The Chief Justice constituted a larger bench

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan has constituted a five-member larger bench to hear the case of Speaker Rolling Suicide Note.

A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial will hear the case. Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel, Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Justice Jamal Khan Mando Khel will be part of the bench.

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar has not been a part of the bench. The newly formed larger bench will hear the suo motu notice at one o'clock in the day.

Yesterday, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Omar Ata Bandial had remarked in the hearing of the self-notice in view of the presidential order dissolving the National Assembly and the Speaker's 'controversial' rolling that steps have been taken now. Cannot issue restraining order.

The bench comprised Chief Justice Omar Ata Bandial, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan. During the hearing, the apex court restrained state officials from taking any unconstitutional action.

Supreme Court issues notice on current political situation

A statement issued by the Supreme Court said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan has taken note of the current situation in the country.

In addition, the PPP had challenged in the Supreme Court the steps taken by the government to reject the no-confidence motion and dissolve the National Assembly.

PPP leader Nayyar Bukhari filed a petition in the Supreme Court against these measures. The court staff reached the Supreme Court on the day off and received the petitions of the opposition.

The opposition in the petition petitioned the court that the action of the Deputy Speaker is in violation of Articles 66, 17 and 95 of the Constitution, the action of the Deputy Speaker should be declared null and void and order should be given for re-voting and giving result.

In the petition, the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker and others were made parties and said that those responsible for violating the Constitution and violating the Constitution should be tried in accordance with the law.
