Remains of an ancient city have been found in the sea near Turkey

Aegean: In 2021, a diver found some pillar-like debris under the sea near the western Turkish city of Dikli. Archaeologists, after a year of research, have finally declared it a relic of the ancient city.

The 39-year-old diver was Turkish engineer Denim Orhan, who works in the United States. He sent photos of his discovery to a team working on archeology in another ancient city in Turkey.

Research by experts has revealed that these pillars are the remains of the port city of Aterneus, dating to 4 BC.

The king of Athens was Hermes, then a friend of Aristotle, the famous philosopher of ancient Greek civilization. The city was devastated by 1 BC. The cause of the devastation, however, is not known, but it is estimated that there was a deadly epidemic in the whole city at that time.
