BAGHDAD: The Iraqi army has targeted strongholds of ISIS in response to an attack on barracks in which nine fighters have been killed.

According to the report, 9 ISIS fighters were killed in the bombing of the Iraqi air force, 4 of whom are from Lebanon.

A spokesman for the Iraqi army told the media that a joint air and ground operation in the northern part of Baghdad had destroyed an ISIS hideout, killing nine fighters.

In the same area, on January 21, ISIS fighters attacked military barracks and killed 11 sleeping personnel. It was the largest ISIS attack since the Iraqi army retreated.

Lebanon also says the death toll from the Iraqi army's operation is high, and claims that five Lebanese were among those killed.

It should be noted that the coalition forces had liberated all Iraqi cities from ISIS after half a decade of war, but there are still militant hideouts in remote areas.
