Attempt to smuggle living people in coffins

New York: Attempts were made to smuggle living people in coffins. 

A Texas man has confessed to smuggling two people into a coffin wrapped in an American flag.

The 33-year-old suspect was arrested near the Mexican border, AFP reported.

A statement from the office of Federal Prosecutor Jennifer Lowry said the man carrying the coffin in a car near the Mexican border was examined on suspicion.The incident was presented as if the bodies of soldiers killed in the war were being lifted.

To the officers' question, Zachary Bild replied that they were "carrying the coffins of the dead navy soldiers."

 The condition of the coffin was critical and the American flag was tapped on it.

Further investigation by security officials revealed that the two men in the coffin were alive and that they were in the United States illegally. 

Both men confessed to crossing the Grande River to the United States. Then paid to take a man to San Antonio, Texas. The offense carries a mimum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of up to  250,000 dollar.
