- A statement from Niger's prime minister said two villages near the Mali border in the western part of the country were attacked on Saturday.
- According to the Prime Minister of Niger, 70 civilians were killed in the attack on the village of Kombango and 30 in the attack on the village of Zarumdare.
- The prime minister did not name those responsible for the attack, but said al-Qaeda and ISIS-linked terrorist attacks had been carried out in Niger before.
- Local officials say the attackers belonged to the suspected militant group Boko Haram, which came from neighboring Nigeria across the border.
