 Russia begins distributing Corona virus vaccine

  • The Russian government has begun distributing its coronavirus vaccine, Sputnik V.
  • According to the news agency, in the first phase, vaccines are being provided in 70 medical centers of the most affected areas from Korona in the Russian capital Moscow.
  • Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a nationwide vaccination campaign starting next week.
  • The Russian vaccine will be provided free of charge by the government and will first be given to teachers and social volunteers, including doctors and other medical staff, as these individuals are most in danger of getting the infection.
  • According to reports, more than 5,000 people have applied for the vaccine within five hours of the government's announcement.
  • Russian Health Minister Mikhail Morashko says Russia has already vaccinated more than 100,000 at-risk people.
