 Lord Nazir Ahmed resigned from the British Parliament

  • Lord Nazir Ahmed, a senior Pakistani politician of the United Kingdom and a member of the upper house of the British Parliament, the House of Lords, has retired from the House.
  • Lord Nazir had written a letter to the House of Lords Clerk (Senior Officer) a month ago expressing his desire for retirement.
  • Speaking to Geo News, Lord Nazir said that he was retiring after 23 years of service in the British capital.
  • The British Parliament has also approved the letter of Lord Nazir's retirement.
  • It may be recalled that Lord Nazir Ahmad was the first Muslim Pakistani to be elected a member of the British Darul Amra.
  • Lord Nazir Ahmed was born in Azad Kashmir in 1957 and moved to Rhodesham with his family in 1969. He joined the Labor Party in 1975 at the age of 18 and was first elected a member of the Rhodesham Council in 1990.
