 Hashish worth Rs 55 crore recovered from open sea boat, 4 accused arrested

  • KARACHI: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) seized 1,372 kg of hashish worth Rs 55 crore in an operation on the high seas.
  • Giving details during a press conference at the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency headquarters, PMSA Director Operations Commander Abdullah said that the Anti-Narcotics Force and the Maritime Security Agency conducted a joint operation on the high seas. During the operation, 1372 kg of hashish was recovered from a boat. Its value in the global market is equivalent to Rs. 55 crore.

  • Commander Maritime Security said that 4 smugglers were also arrested during the naval operation. The arrested smugglers belong to Pakistan and further investigation is underway. According to Commander Abdullah, the drugs were to be transported underwater to another country's ship and possibly to Africa or other parts of the world.
  • He added that the MSA has carried out the third major operation this year. Ice hashish and other drugs have been seized before. We will install vessel monitoring systems to detect suspicious launches. This system will allow direct monitoring of each boat. The vessel monitoring system also aims to assist boats at sea.
