  • Washington: US President Donald Trump has revealed that he wanted to assassinate Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in 2017, but then-Defense Secretary James Mattis prevented him from doing so.

  • In a program on the American broadcaster Fox News, President Trump revealed that he wanted to remove Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from the path for which the plan was ready, but the less courageous Secretary of Defense James Mattis got in the way and we could not implement it.

  • That's almost exactly what Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward revealed in his book, Fair: Trump in the White House, in 2018, and then President Trump denied that he (Bashar) Assassination of Assad was never considered.
