What steps did the Indian government take to end the special status of Occupied Kashmir?

  • India: As soon as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power last year, on August 5, it announced the repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution, under which the state of Jammu and Kashmir lost its semi-autonomy and special powers.
  • The Indian initiative replaced the state of Jammu and Kashmir with two Centrally Administered Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, both of which were handed over to the Lieutenant Governor.
  • Following the Hindutva policy, Jammu and Kashmir has lost its status as a state after the repeal of Article 370 by the Modi government.
  • The internal affairs of Jammu and Kashmir have now come under the direct control of the Federal Home Minister of India instead of the Chief Minister who is trying to run them through the Lieutenant Governor.

  • With the repeal of Article 370, the laws of India which were earlier subject to the approval of the State Assembly have now come into force automatically in the region, as well as the decisions of the Indian Supreme Court have now been applied directly.
  • Under the Indian Constitution, the federal government can impose a financial emergency in a state or an entire country, but under Article 370, the Indian government was not allowed to do so in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The provisions of the Indian Constitution which apply to other states could not be applied to the State of Jammu and Kashmir under this article, the State of Jammu and Kashmir was given the right to make its own constitution, to have a separate flag, under Article 370 The Indian president did not even have the right to suspend the state constitution.
  • No Indian dream has been embarrassingly interpreted since the repeal of Article 370.
  • On the other hand, Pakistan gave up its claims for the independence of Kashmir and the zeal of the zealous Kashmiris did not diminish.
  • That is why the day of exploitation is being observed all over the world, including Pakistan, to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people
