Pakistan demands extradition of Shahbaz Sharif's son-in-law from UK

  • The Pakistani government demanded the extradition of Shahbaz Sharif's son-in-law Ali Imran to Pakistan.
  • The government of Pakistan has written to the Central Authority International Criminal Unit of British Home Ministry demanding the extradition of Ali Imran, son-in-law of PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition within the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif.
  • It is to be noted that Ali Imran, who is wanted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on corruption charges, is currently residing in the UK while there is no agreement between Pakistan and the UK on extradition of the wanted accused.
  • That is why the letter said that Ali Imran should be extradited to Pakistan on the basis of mutual cooperation without an extradition agreement.
  • Sources said that the British government would consider Pakistan's request in due course.
  • After the trial of Ali Imran on the British newspaper Daily Mail, his demand for deportation to the United Kingdom has nothing to do with it.
  • Some time ago, the Daily Mail in its article had made allegations of corruption against Ali Imran and Ikram Naveed of the Earthquake Relief and Reconstruction Authority. And the case was also filed in the court.
  • It should be noted that in the last few years, almost all the people extradited from Pakistan to the UK were involved in the crime of murder.
  • The PTI government had earlier demanded the extradition of Ishaq Dar, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz and Sulaiman Shahbaz
