  • KABUL: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has said that the last 400 Taliban prisoners have been charged with serious crimes so their early release is not possible.
  • According to Afghan media, the Kabul government has released another 500 Taliban prisoners on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. However, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said that the remaining 400 prisoners are charged with serious crimes, so their immediate release is not possible. The matter should now be resolved in the Grand Jirga.

  • Under an agreement reached between the United States and the Afghan Taliban on February 29, the Kabul government was to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners who had been released in stages, but President Ashraf Ghani refused to release the remaining 400 prisoners. Threatens to sabotage peace talks

  • On the other hand, due to the announcement of a three-day ceasefire by the Afghan Taliban and the Kabul government, the first day of Eid-ul-Adha was very peaceful today and traditional celebrations on the occasion of Eid are continuing in the country.
