Iran separates India from Chahbahar rail project;-otgnewsupdate

Iran has decided to build its own railway line by separating India from the Chahbahar rail project.

The agreement between India and Iran was reached four years ago when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tehran and was signed by Narendra Modi, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

Under the agreement, a railway line is to be built from Chah-e-Bihar to Zahedan along the Afghan border, but so far neither the project has been launched nor funds have been released for it.

According to the Indian newspaper The Hindu, Iran has separated India from the project due to delays in starting the project and funding.

According to Iranian officials, the entire project will be completed by March 2022 and Iran will complete the railway line without India.

According to The Hindu, the decision was taken by Iran at a time when China has signed a  400  billion 25-year strategic partnership agreement with Iran.

The Hindu writes that the deal could harm India's plans in Iran.
