US presidential candidate Joe Biden calls for lifting of sanctions on Kashmiris-otgnewsupdate

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has demanded the lifting of restrictions imposed on Kashmiris by the Indian government and restoration of all rights.

It may be recalled that on August 5, 2019, India ended the special status of Kashmir, after which the complete lockdown of the valley has been going on.

Internet and telephone services in the occupied valley have also been cut off during this period, while Kashmiris have not been provided with medicine and medical treatment even during the Corona epidemic.

US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has demanded lifting of sanctions on Kashmiris and restoration of all rights. The US presidential candidate expressed frustration over the controversial citizenship law and concern over the plight of Indian Muslims

Joe Biden said measures such as violence against peaceful protesters and the closure of the Internet were a denial of democracy.

It may be recalled that the Indian Parliament had passed the Citizens Amendment Act on December 11, 2019, in the 79 days since which 69 people, mostly Muslims, have been killed in violent incidents in different parts of the country.

Controversial citizenship law
On December 11, 2019, the Indian Parliament passed a controversial citizenship law that would grant citizenship to non-Muslims traveling to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, but not to Muslims.

The law also threatens to deport large numbers of Bangladeshi refugees in India.

Protests are going on across the country against this controversial citizenship law in India and people from all schools of thought are participating in the protest.

Many Indian states, including Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, have refused to implement the controversial citizenship law, while the Indian state of Kerala has taken the law to the Supreme Court.
